We are excited and also have pleasure in announcing that we have now started trialing Amazon’s Echo devices with Alexa voice recognition technology in the home solely for the use of the residents who wish to take part. We have invested in a number of devices which will be located in each of the residents lounges initially for the trial period. We have also invested in a number of Alexa enabled (voice controlled) power sockets, so a resident can turn electrical equipment on and off simply by asking a Amazon Echo device “Alexa, switch on the Lamp”, Fan or Christmas Tree, as a few examples. The devices will also allow a resident to listen to any radio station they want to, get some help with spelling for crosswords, hear the latest up to date news, plus much much more, simply by asking Alexa. This will hopefully allow our residents to gain greater independence and also a greater wellbeing.
At the end of the trial, our management team will be available to discuss the options of having an Alexa enabled room, for those that would like it installed.
We would like to firmly add, that the addition of these devices will never detract from the high quality of personal human care we provide for our residents now, or in the future.
